In order to enable Amplemarket Email Warmup for Google accounts you need to enable SMTP/IMAP first.

In this article, you will learn how to configure email warmup via SMTP/IMAP setup, following the steps:

    1. Enable IMAP
    2. Enable SMTP
      • If you have Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) enabled for your Google Workspace Account (Recommended)

      • If you have Less secure app access enabled for your Google Workspace Account

      • If 2FA and Less secure apps settings are not available

Enable IMAP

    1. Navigate to your Gmail inbox
    2. Select the “Forwarding and POP/IMAP” settings
    3. Under the “IMAP access” section, check the option to “Enable IMAP”

Enable SMTP

SMTP can be enable in different ways and that will depend on your Google Account type and your current security configuration.

If you have Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) enabled for your Google Workspace Account (Recommended)

If your account supports 2FA, you need to turn this setting on in your Google Account by following these steps:

  1. Navigate to your Google Account Settings Page
  2. Click on “Security” in the left-hand side-bar menu
  3. In your security settings, locate the section named “Signing in to Google”
  4. Click on the setting “2-Step Verification”
  5. Follow the on-screen steps

Alternatively, you can access 2FA directly here.

Once 2FA is enabled you then need to create an app password to complete the SMTP setup for your Amplemarket mailbox. Follow these steps:

      1. Go to your Google Account.
      2. Select Security.
      3. Under "Signing in to Google," select 2-Step Verification.
      4. At the bottom of the page, select App passwords.
      5. Enter a name that helps you remember where you’ll use the app password.
      6. Select Generate.
      7. To enter the app password, follow the instructions on your screen. The app password is the 16-character code that generates on your device.
      8. Select Done.

If you’ve set up 2-Step Verification but can’t find the option to add an app password, it might be because:

  1. Navigate to your Amplemarket Warmup settings:
    • Click to configure SMTP/IMAP for your mailbox
    • Fill the sender name - this could be your first and last name
    • Paste your new password into your “Password” field
    • Ensure that the email address matches your Google App's email address
