Connecting with leads across multiple channels is a key part of any effective outbound strategy. That’s why Amplemarket enables users to automate LinkedIn engagement directly through our platform.

However, how you engage is just as important as who you engage with. To help you make the most of this feature—and avoid potential issues like LinkedIn account restrictions—we’ve put together a set of LinkedIn Best Practices. These are designed to protect you, and also to have you complying with LinkedIn rules of engagement.

Over the past years, our Product and Engineering teams have investigated the most common causes of LinkedIn suspensions and identified how users can avoid them. In this article, we’ll walk you through the key guidelines to maximize your results using Amplemarket’s extension—safely and effectively.

LinkedIn Daily Limits & Volume

At Amplemarket, we’re committed to helping you engage with leads effectively while staying within LinkedIn’s guidelines. To ensure you use automation responsibly and protect your account, Amplemarket sets thoughtful limits on the number of LinkedIn actions you can perform daily based on your LinkedIn subscription type (Basic, Premium, or Sales Navigator). By aligning your activity with what LinkedIn expects from users at each subscription level, we reduce the risk of triggering flags or restrictions.

These settings help you stay safe, compliant, and effective in your outreach.

In the example above, you'll see that LinkedIn Basic (free) accounts are limited to 20 connection requests and 50 other actions per day. These limits represent the maximum number of actions Amplemarket will automate for you daily, to ensure compliance with LinkedIn’s usage guidelines.

It's important to note that if you reach these limits through Amplemarket and then perform additional activity directly on LinkedIn, you maybe exceeding the safe threshold for your account type—something LinkedIn closely monitors.

For connection requests specifically, note that:

  • LinkedIn Basic accounts are generally allowed up to 80 connection requests per week.
  • Paid plans, such as Premium and Sales Navigator, can typically send up to 100 connection requests per week.

Limits may vary based on your Social Selling Index (SSI) score. A higher SSI reduces the chances of being flagged. Check your SSI here.

Gradual Ramp-up of Activity (LinkedIn Warmup)

While it's important to understand the maximum limits allowed for LinkedIn activity, it's equally critical to gradually ramp up your usage over time—similar to warming up a new email domain.

If, for instance, your LinkedIn Basic account has only ever sent 2 connection requests per day, suddenly increasing to 20 could trigger LinkedIn to flag your account for unusual behaviour.

To avoid this, we strongly recommend gradually increasing your daily LinkedIn activity until you reach your target volume. This ensures your account stays in good standing and minimizes the risk of being flagged.

Tips to warmup your LinkedIn Account:

  • Connection Requests: Start slowly. Begin with 5 connection requests/day and increase by 5 every two weeks until you reach a maximum of 25 per day.
  • Messages: Limit LinkedIn messages to no more than 100 per day.
  • New Accounts: If your LinkedIn account has fewer than 100 connections, rely more on manual actions and gradually introduce automation.

Our default recommendation is to not exceed 25 connection requests per day as a safer baseline, ensuring accounts don’t get flagged or end up with a backlog of LinkedIn actions. Amplemarket users can always increase from there based on their own risk tolerance and preferences.

Personalisation & Message Content

Many users supplement email outreach with LinkedIn connection requests or InMail messages. This is a great strategy—but message content quality matters.

Like email providers, LinkedIn reviews messaging patterns. If it detects repetitive or templated messages, your account may be flagged for suspected automation.

To stay compliant by:

  • Using dynamic fields and Liquid syntax in all messages and requests.
  • Leverage Duo (if available in your plan) to generate highly personalised, human-like copy.
  • Adding variety and a personal touch increases your chances of engagement—and reduces your chances of suspension.

LinkedIn Exports (importing leads to Amplemarket)

While not currently enforced by Amplemarket, we recommend the following import limits for safety:

  • Free LinkedIn accounts should avoid importing more than 1,000 leads per day.
  • Paid LinkedIn accounts (e.g., Premium or Sales Navigator) should limit imports to 2,500 leads per day.

Following these guidelines helps minimize the risk of triggering LinkedIn’s anti-automation measures and keeps your account in good standing.

Mix Automated and Manual Actions

Don’t rely solely on automation. Mixing in manual tasks:

  • Helps you maintain natural activity patterns
  • Is particularly important when warming up new accounts
  • Even small variations can make a big difference in helping your account stay under LinkedIn’s radar.

Account Security & Login Behaviour

inkedIn takes suspicious logins seriously. To avoid issues:

  • Avoid VPNs and do not share LinkedIn credentials

  • Do not allow multiple people to log into the same account

  • Avoid major profile edits (name, job title, location) while running automated outreach

By following these best practices, you’ll be able to safely scale your LinkedIn outreach using Amplemarket—while staying compliant with LinkedIn’s terms of use.
