Converting Manual LinkedIn Tasks to Automatic

We know that things don’t always go as planned with automated LinkedIn actions. There are times when LinkedIn actions that were supposed to run automatically get converted into manual tasks.

But no worries — now you can revert some of these tasks back to automatic execution, saving you time and effort.

In this guide, we’ll explain how this works and provide some helpful tips along the way.

How to Control Task Conversion in Your Sequence Settings

Let’s start with a quick refresher on how you can manage task conversion settings.

You can control what happens when an automatic LinkedIn action fails in your Sequence Settings under Advanced Settings. Here, you can choose whether the system should convert failed automatic actions into manual tasks or skip them altogether.

This guide applies if you’ve set your sequences to "Convert to manual LinkedIn task."

Why Are Automatic LinkedIn Actions Converted to Manual?

Sometimes, the system will convert an automatic LinkedIn action into a manual task. This usually happens for a few common reasons, such as:

  • LinkedIn Connection requests being withdrawn, which prevents the system from resending an invitation for up to three weeks. Learn more here.
  • Manual conversion by the user, where you or someone else explicitly changes the task from automatic to manual.

There may be other reasons, but these are the most frequent cases. You can always check the conversion reason in the Tasks page, as shown in the example below.

Now, let’s talk about how you can revert these manual tasks back to automatic.

Reverting Manual LinkedIn Tasks to Automatic

Amplemarket now allows you to revert LinkedIn tasks that were converted to manual back to automatic. This is great when you want to let the system handle the task for you after addressing the issue that caused the conversion.

What you need to know:

  • This feature only applies to LinkedIn actions — it doesn’t include emails, calls, or generic tasks.
  • Not all LinkedIn actions can be reverted. Only actions that were originally automatic can be converted back, such as:
    • Liking a post
    • Sending a connection request
    • Sending a LinkedIn message
    • Following a profile
  • To convert tasks back to automatic, bulk-select the tasks from the tasks page. Once selected, you’ll see a new action, "Convert to Automatic" — click this to initiate the reversion.

When you bulk-select tasks to convert back to automatic, if some aren’t eligible, only the eligible tasks will be reverted. If none are eligible, you’ll see a message saying: “None of the selected tasks are eligible for conversion.”

What Happens After Tasks Are Reverted?

When a task is reverted back to automatic, it doesn’t execute immediately. It goes back into the automatic execution queue and will be executed based on its due date.

If you need a task done right away, you can still complete it manually.

What If the Task Fails Again?

If the issue that caused the action to fail still exists, the automatic LinkedIn action might fail again and be converted back to manual.

For example, if a Like Last Post action failed because the LinkedIn user had no posts, and after reverting the task they still haven't posted anything, the action will fail again.
