Amplemarket provides the ability to run LinkedIn tasks on the users behalf so they can save time. From time to time these actions may fail, when that happens, this tasks will either be skipped or converted to manual depending on that particular sequences settings. This article will take you through each of the reasons why these tasks failed and some steps that can be taken if they are converted to manual tasks.

Controlling Task Conversion Settings

First things first: you have control over what happens when a LinkedIn task fails. In your Sequence Settings under Advanced Settings, you can choose to either have failed LinkedIn actions converted to manual tasks or simply skipped.

Adjusting this setting lets you decide how best to manage LinkedIn actions that don’t go through.

Common Reasons LinkedIn Tasks Get Converted to Manual or Skipped

When a LinkedIn action fails, it means LinkedIn has blocked or rejected our attempt to perform the action. This can happen for several reasons, and here are the most common ones:

Stage/Task Type Skip Reason Explanation
Connection and Message Weekly Connection Limit Reached LinkedIn sets weekly limits on connection requests, generally between 100 to 200, depending on factors like your social index and account age.
Connection and Message Personalized Connection Limit Reached Free accounts can send up to five personalised invites per week. Premium members enjoy unlimited personalised limit.
Connection Connection Withdrawn If you withdraw a connection request or if someone rejects your connection, LinkedIn restricts you from re-sending an invite to that person for up to three weeks.
Message Not First-Degree Connection LinkedIn only allows you to send messages to leads you're connected. If you're not yet a first-degree connection, this action will fail. If you are using Inmail and the message still fails, it is likely that you have run out of Inmail credits.
Like Post No Likeable Posts If your sequence is set to like a recent post (e.g., within the last 14 days), and the user has no posts in that period, Amplemarket will skip the task.
Like Post Already Liked Last Post This happens if you've already liked the user's most recent post and try to do it again.
Any Type Autopilot Not Executed

Sometimes, LinkedIn will reject our attempt to execute an action without giving any context.

How Can I See the Reason for Conversion?

If an action was converted to a manual task, you can see the reason by hovering over the conversion icon near the task.

If the action was skipped, the reason will be displayed in the Skipped Reason column.

What if the Reason No Longer Exists and I Want to Convert Tasks Back to Automatic Actions?

Sometimes, the reason for the initial conversion or skip may no longer apply. For example, if the three-week limit for withdrawn connections has ended or your weekly limit has refreshed, you can attempt to revert the task.

To do this, bulk-select the tasks from the tasks page. Once selected, you’ll see a new action, "Convert to Automatic" — click this to initiate the reversion.

Errors Messages

If the extension runs into some problems, it will display an error message that should aid you in discovering and fixing the cause. Some examples:

  • "We couldn't automatically execute your LinkedIn tasks because you're not logged in to LinkedIn. Log in here to kickstart the execution" - The first step is ensuring you are logged in to your own LinkedIn account in the website. Clicking the link in "here" should direct you to the LinkedIn web page.

  • "We couldn't automatically execute your LinkedIn tasks because you haven't connected your LinkedIn account to Amplemarket. Connect here to kickstart the execution" - You should also ensure that your Amplemarket account is connected to the LinkedIn one. The link in "here" will take you to the settings page where you can link them together.

  • "We couldn't automatically execute your LinkedIn tasks because the Amplemarket extension is missing. Install it here to kickstart the execution" - Finally, the Amplemarket Hook extension should be installed and active.

Other problems: Extension seems "stuck" and not completing the tasks

It may happen that the extension reports that it has tasks that it will execute, but takes a long time to do it, and remains in the same number of completed tasks.

The most common reason for this behavior is that the tasks still pending are about leads that are in a different timezone than your own (and the Sequence settings are set to respect the lead timezone). If the execution should proceed regardless of the lead timezone, you may change the Sequence settings as outlined in Managing your Tasks.

Other possible reasons for your automatic tasks not being executed can also be in your own timezone or delivery schedule configuration. Both of these settings can be changed via the Settings.
