When it comes to generating Duo’s AI sequences, there are 5 key variables you can customize to align the messaging with your preferences.
- Your company value propositions: This is where you should specify how, in general, Duo should pitch your products and services, what social proof and testimonials to use and how, etc.
- Your tone of voice: This is where you can customize how you want, in general, your outreach to sound.
- Your sequence instructions: This is where you can, if needed, instruct Duo to use a specific sequence structure or follow a specific template in a specific step, etc.
- The signal nudge: This is the prompt that defines how Duo should approach the leads generated for each specific signal. Only account admins can change it.
- Your competitor battlecards: This is the context that informs Duo of how you want to position your products and services relative to a competitor. Only account admins can change it and this context is only used for competitor related signals.
The first 3 options are general messaging settings that will apply to all Duo generated sequences regardless of the signal. And they are editable via Settings > Duo Control Center > Messaging Settings.
The last 2 options are signal specific variables that will apply on a per signal basis. And they are editable via Settings > Duo Control Center > Duo Copilot.
Learn more about each of these variables below.
Company value propositions
If you go to Settings > Duo Control Center > Messaging Settings > Company value propositions you’ll see a text field where you can customize how you want Duo to introduce your products and services. You can even break these value propositions per persona or territory — when reaching out to prospects, Duo will have enough information about them to use the right value proposition accordingly. And you can do the same for case studies or testimonials — you can add them to your value proposition section, explain to Duo when each of them should be used, and Duo will include them as social proof in its sequences!
Here's an example:

Tone of voice
In Settings > Duo Control Center > Messaging Settings > Tone of voice, you'll see a second text field and this is where you should help Duo understand how you want your outreach to sound. Your preferred tone of voice, the specific sales methodologies or frameworks you like to follow and other pieces of information about yourself that will make Duo sound more like you.
Sequence instructions
In Settings > Duo Control Center > Messaging Settings > Sequence instructions, there is a third text field where you can be more specific about how you want Duo’s sequences to be structured. You can:
- Define the specific steps and stages that you want Duo to use
- When each of these stages and steps should be executed
- How should Duo write the copy for each of those stages (from more high-level instructions to very specific templates)
- Links you want Duo to include
- Things you want Duo to reference and how and when
- Etc
Some examples:
Here's the sequence structure you should follow:
Day 1: Start with a profile visit and a like on the lead’s last post
Day 2: Send a connection request and a first email
Day 5: A Voice Message on LinkedIn (write the message script for me)
Day 8: A follow-up email doubling down on how we can help and including relevant social proof
Day 10: A follow-up text message on LinkedIn using this template:
"Hey {{first name}}, sent you an email and a voice note about {{reasons why we reached out}}. Would this be worth exploring?"
Day 14: A final profile visit
Day 15: One final breakup email where we include a link to our sales deck: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1bPGQysWeRTErK7FsPvMAsArKRyMRTt83ll2VTuuByF0/edit#slide=id.g1f0bef7b88e_0_2
But you can also be even more specific and ask for specific copy to be used in specific stages, or for certain collateral to be used.
Here's an example where we are asking Duo to always follow a specific subject line structure and to include a link to our sales deck:
Subject line should always be: {{first_name}} <> Meghan
In the first email make sure to include a link to Amplemarket's Sales Deck: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1bPGQysWeRTErK7FsPvMAsArKRyMRTt83ll2VTuuByF0/edit#slide=id.g1f0bef7b88e_0_2
Signal nudges
In Settings > Duo Control Center > Duo Copilot > Signals, click to open one of your signals. You'll see that in step 1 (Configuration) there is an advanced setting that allows you to instruct Duo on how to approach leads for that specific signal. All leads generated from this signal will follow the instructions specified in this prompt (in addition to your Messaging Settings instructions). You can think of this field as a description for the play you want to run for this specific signal. If you want, you can even change the structure of the sequences from the leads generated for this signal.
Competitor battlecards
In Settings > Duo Control Center > Duo Copilot > Competitors, click to open one of your competitors. You'll see a text field at the bottom where you can inform Duo of how you compare against that specific competitor. This context will be used only for competitor related signals (e.g. when someone engages with a post from one of your competitors).
