It is a common problem in the sales industry that Gmail accounts get suspended. While it is frustrating, the solution is simple and there are no long-term effects to your email address and domain reputation.
How did this happen?
There are a few possibilities for what went wrong in these instances:
- If you or someone else accessed your Gmail account on a different location with a different IP address, Google can pick this up as odd behavior.
- If multiple people over a short period of time marked the email you sent them as spam, the algorithms might to avoid the content you're sending.
- If your mailbox or domain is new, and you go from no volume history to a big outbound push (even going from 0 to 25 emails in a day can be too much for a new domain!)
- If Google picks up on unusual spikes of activity, even once your domain is established. You can read more about in this article - Daily Volume Best Practices
What now?
Step 1 - Reactivate
Google automatically notified the admin of the G-suite account that an account has been suspended.
- If you are not the admin: You can ask your admin to reactivate your account. You can also ask them about the reported reason for the account suspension.
- If you are the admin you can restore your account. Itβs an easy and straightforward process:
Go to Google Suite Users click on the suspended user Reactivate
Note:
If the Reactivate option isn't available, you must wait up to 24 hours before the limits are reset automatically. During this time, the user can still use other Google services. This happens when your account has been suspended for 5+ times during the same calendar year.
Step 2 - Monitor outbound traffic
After an account suspension we suggest you keep your volume low for at least one week - 10 to 20 emails per day - and monitor the results.
You can also test whether you are having spam related problems by doing a quick test. Send a couple of emails to a number of @gmail addresses and check whether your email has landed in their spam folder.
